Logistics

We leave for the great smorgasbord of religions on June 8th and return to the great smorgasbord of Christianity on August 3rd. I have recently received four preventative shots; Tetanus, Polio, Typhoid and Hepatitis A (first of two.) I pick up my Malaria pills and general antibiotic tomorrow from the pharmacy. Jeni will be getting her shots soon (she better). I am currently reading advice on various websites regarding what type and size backpack to bring so that I can go backpack shopping. Got to get in my cardio before the trip ;) Suggestions are welcome! I am making a detailed list of everything I need to bring, regardless of how minute (i.e. q-tips, maps, granola bars, an old wallet with fake info and a few bucks to give out when, oops I mean if I get robbed…) Each night before I go to bed I am reading myself to sleep with India Travel Books. Last night I was reading Lonely Planet’s World Food India, “For people who love to eat, drink and travel.” I am very excited about eating famous authentic roghan josh (lamb curry) in Kashmir! Hopefully they will have the tofu version for Jeni… Mutton anyone?

The Adventure Begins...

Yipee! 48 days and counting until Jeeni and Jeni take off on their adventure to India. They have been planning this trip literally for years. The day the two met in a Politics of India course at UCB the spring of 2001, it was clear that they shared an unusual common interest and fascination with the largest Democracy in the world. This blog is being created in order for friends and family to follow their adventures.

Both Jeeni and Jeni favor the Hindu God, Lord Ganesh, the remover of obstacles and the overseer of new beginnings.
